My name is Hailey Kennedy and I am a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist.
I specialize in those who find themselves in their head more than their body, a disconnect we don't realize is present as we just keep pushing through- surviving - in the way we have learned yields results. Those who are overly self-critical, self-sabotaging, and self-questioning. Those who feel caught in the cog of life, follow philosophy too closely sometimes, question the meaning of life and if they're on the right path for them. Those whose mental noise is so loud and in constant conflict. We are the ones who often take it out on ourselves because we can handle it right? Until our bodies show us we can't.
Sessions with me take on a more eclectic and experiential approach, drawing from different modalities to ensure a safe space conducive for discovery, exploration, growth, and trauma work. My emphasis on feeling to heal, regulating the nervous system, and giving ourselves permission to unburden our stuck pain will drive our sessions together.
Using my training in Polyvagal Somatic Therapy, I am able to keep you present and safe in the physical, emotional, and mental planes while we explore what healing means for you. I tend to pull from varying modalities as therapy isn't a one-size-fits all (nothing ever is). We are all uniquely human with various parts, thoughts, values, behaviours, and ways of just being and require a therapist who understands just that.
Modalities such as parts work (IFS), core value work (ACT), existential meaning exploration, emotion-focused, and trauma-informed EMDR exist as tools for us to draw upon based on your needs. My background in talk therapies such as CBT and DBT during my time in community mental health + eating disorders, has shown me our processes are much deeper than simply re-writing our thoughts.
Our minds are already in battle, searching for answers that are truly stored in our bodies and hearts, the voice that is ignored by the "logic brain" who doesn't let go of the mic.
Hailey and I connected online and the more I got to know about her approach to therapy , the more I knew she would be an ideal fit for the clientele we serve at Mindfully Me. Hailey understands that a lot of us seem to have our sh*t together. We go to work, we hold relationships, we show up when needed but at times, we feel like we are just getting by inside. Hailey understands how stress, trauma and adversity live within our bodies and souls and a lot of us live within our head to protect us... but that only works for so long. Hailey's emphasis on body focused modalities, EMDR and her pull towards relational therapy is something I admire, look out for and respect in a clinician. Please join me in welcoming Hailey to the team :)
